Here is how to configure Windows for accessing network sharing on the pure.box:
The pure.box supports access to the internal 750MB (approximate) internal memory via SMB signing (SMB = Server Message Block). This function can be turned on or off in the device configuration under Home >> Configuration >> pure.box >> Network using the option Activate SMB server. Signing is then possible over using the Windows network environment.

Running a PHP script when data are received on a TCP port
When data are received (via TCP or UDP), the pure.box is able to respond by running a PHP script. The received data can be read via PHP and further processed (e.g. reply to the data source, transmission over the network or saving in the box-internal database). The PHP interpreter works exclusively "under the hood", and no traditional output in the form of a Web page is generated. This functionality allows you to realize simple server applications simply using Web techniques.
The example shown here illuminates the following function features of the pure.box:
- Execution of a PHP script when data are received on a TCP port
- Reading of the received data through the standard input
- Saving the read information in a box-internal SQLite database

Increasing transmission rates along with dropping prices have made DSL THE standard solution for Internet access over recent years. In contrast to the traditional, outgoing applications like Internet browsers and e-mail clients, incoming connections require that a few points as described below be observed. As shown in the illustration, we are using as a concrete example a Web-Thermometer installed in the Intranet which can be read and configured from the Internet. This enables service personnel to do their work outside of normal working hours, and to access the current temperature values or device configuration from any location.
